This was today's ride.  I went to visit some old friends near Orlando which was off the official route.  Not scenic like riding along the ocean.  The road is 65 mph.  Almost every car moved over into the far lane and gave me plenty of room.  The traffic also came in pulses, not continuously, so I felt totally safe the whole way despite the speed.

Once off the coast, Florida retains flatness without the attraction of the ocean.  It is more like the midwest.  This area of the state used to have a lot of cattle farms.  I also recalled part of the Central Valley in California  and was then told that there used to be a lot of orchards here as well.

Big sky!

Florida is such a friendly state!  In order to assist so many of the seniors that are moving to the state, they have posted signs to help then with a varietys of health issues.  Here's one now!

50 miles.  Wind from the SSE.  Sunny.   First bike problem.  I hit something with the front tire that caused the casing to separate.  I have three different size tires and did have this one.

  1. You seem to be making great progress! How do you feel physically? Riding 60 - 70 miles, flat land or not is a lot of spinning! But you sound like you're in good spirits and enjoying the trip. Do have any music to listen to for those long stretches, or are you just enjoying the quiet and the sounds along the trip?
