Pre-trip thoughts.

It's just about two weeks prior to flight time.  Things are starting to come together.  Riding with a long wheel based recumbent is a little different than a regular bike.  The first issue is getting the bike to the starting point.  I am shipping the bike via truck  I am building my own crate to send it in.  It will also contain most of my stuff and the trailer.  it leaves before me to get there in time. despite all the assuances, you know I'll be on the phone with the sender, the receieving bike store, et.al. many times to make sure everything is done.  I still have to finish  packing so I can put the whole thing together and ride around here a few times with the trailer to work out any of the problems before I get on the trip.  It would be nice if the weather around here cooperated more.  today it is sunny but will only get to around 38 degrees.  A little chilly for riding but I need to get in some more miles.  I have done about 230 on the road so far.  More is better.  Whatever the preparation, the first week will be the getting into shape time, the riding being day after day.  Let's pray for warmer temps here soon!
